Gas installation

Description of Gas Installation

The internal installation starts from the gas meter (installed by Enaon EDA) and ends at the exhaust outlet (the chimney). This installation includes the piping, valves, gas appliances, ventilation outlets, connections, flue, manholes and other associated fittings and any additional safety measures (e.g. gas detector, etc.).

The central gas shut-off valve is located immediately downstream in most installations. It is recommended that it should be mounted with the words indicating “central gas shut-

off valve” in order to ensure that in the event of a supply interruption the valve’s location is visible for everyone. Stop taps should also be installed before each gas appliance and one inside the boiler room. All valves should be accessible.

The installation of the gas detector is not mandatory. It is a device that immediately detects any gas leakage in the room, being enabled to detect even minimal amounts of gas. The detector is connected with an alarm, which gives an audible warning of the leakage, and can also be connected to an electrometer placed near the manual tap downstream from the meter.
As soon as the detector detects gas it cuts the power to the electrobalancer, whereupon the gas supply stops ensuring your complete protection.
Gas detectors should be replaced once every 4-5 years.

The oxygen in the air is used to burn the gas in the appliances used. The air enters and exits through special grilled or ducted vents or by mechanical intake/exhaust. In the case of appliances of closed type (type C), the oxygen for combustion is taken from the external environment and there is no need to ventilate the room. If there is not enough air available then, as in case of heating oil combustion, there is a risk of inadequate combustion and carbon monoxide formation which in large quantities is toxic.

Therefore, for your safety, do not forget to keep the ventilation grille vents open and clean.

In the absence of a chimney or when the appliance does not require a chimney, the ventilation louvres shall be placed high on the wall of the room where the appliances are located, in order to extract the exhaust gases.

Failure to ensure good exhaust ventilation of the combustion gases will, as in the case of heating oil combustion, lead to the risk of formation carbon monoxide, which in large quantities is toxic.

Consequently, for your safety, do not forget to clean the chimneys (hat) and keep them in good condition.

Natural gas appliances

All gas appliances must be specifically CE marked and meet European standards. They must be installed in properly ventilated rooms and have a total volume of more than 6 cubic meters. Except cooking appliances or type A appliances (such as rapid heaters), devices must be connected to a flue duct, calculated in terms of cross-section, routing and length in the internal installation design. In this way the exhaust gases escape naturally to the external environment.
