Efficient operation and maintenance of the installation
Natural gas internal installations and appliances are the responsibility of the consumers operating the gas. Therefore, in order to ensure that you derive maximum performance and safety from them, assign work to licensed technicians, keep a record of documents relating to gas use, and keep a well-informed maintenance log.
Your internal installation can be interfered with:
- ο the engineer responsible for the design of the installation
- ο the licensed gas-fuelled plumber who carries out any work related to the gas supply line (e.g. leak detection), from the meter to the appliances using it
- ο the dealer or appliance installer/maintenance technician who has installed your appliances also takes care of their adjustment and maintenance
Undoubtedly once a year, such as not neglecting to do regular maintenance for the proper operation of your vehicle. Annual gas appliance maintenance, burner tuning, gas boiler cleaning and an overall installation overhaul will ensure you save energy, improve efficiency, as well as comfort and safety. Pursuant to the legislation (Government Gazette 976/2012), internal gas installations must be re-inspected for tightness by licensed plumbing installers once every four years.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to do so!
Any intervention in your internal installation or appliances requires specialist technical knowledge. That’s why you should only contact licensed and qualified plumbers, boiler technicians and engineers. Nevertheless, one thing that you would be well advised to do frequently and carefully yourself is to inspect for good ventilation and flue gas exhaust from the chimneys, as well as proper detector operation.
The procedure is very simple: Near the detector, hold a simple gas lighter on (no flame) and wait for a while. The alarm will be activated automatically if the detector is working properly and also if there is an electromagnetic detector in the installation, will be switched off.
Many gas appliance sales companies or plumbers/burner technicians offer you a regular maintenance contract. This simple process relieves you of the obligation to remember every time you need to schedule appliance maintenance and an inspection of your installation. The experts take care of this and you don’t have the slightest stress about your safety.
